podcast reflects on the myth of "normal"

I am not a normal addict, as I wrote in my blog Hi I'm Ming-Wai, and My Problems Aren't Real Problems, and Dr. Gabor Maté and Rich Roll do an amazing job breaking the problem down in this podcast. Our childhood trauma, our culture, our values are shaping the way we struggle and survive in our current lives.

This reflection without blame but instead reflection with love, compassion, and humanity gives a beautiful shift in my perspective on how I am working to show up in this life and how we all cope differently with trauma.

One of my tools is Compassionate Inquiry coaching, which was developed by Dr. Gabor Maté, and his perspective just makes sense to me.

With love,

Ming-Wai

For my book lovers

You'll love this book if you...

- feel "off" or "stuck" and want to change but get pulled back into your old habits and you want to know why

- want to learn more about how trauma shows up in your life from a scientific perspective

I also recommend Scattered Minds by Gabor Mate for anyone who is or loves someone with ADD or ADHD. Using a similar framework, this was an eye-opening perspective on the origins of ADD/ADHD and tools to help the ADD/ADHD person feel safe, supported, and valued in our society.
